Food safety is one of the most important indicators of agri-food products' quality and its priority is reflected in Polish and European Union's legislation. Although the obligation of HACCP system implementation in all Polish food-sector companies exists from the moment of joining EU some units still had not met these requirements. There are presented results of studies concerning motives and barriers in HACCP system implementation in middle-size companies from food-sector which has not complied with compulsory standards in the moment when research was carried out.
