Estimation of a tourist value of the geographic environment for the tourist movement needs, is one of the main task the tourist geography deals with. The paper is an attempt of a such estimate exemplified on Suwałki voivodship. The paper consist of two parts: estimate of a turist value as regards the basic components of the landscape (as a whole) and estimate of the geographic environment usefulness far some trends of a tourist movement. A tourist value of the landscape depends on comprising components playing the most important role at a tourist movement. These components were ranged as follows: topographical feature, superficial water and a forest cover. The paper deals with the climate conditions. There are examined separately because of an unequal dependence of a climate upon a different trends in a tourist movement. Estimate of a tourist value of the geographic environment was examined by means of the mathematics methods. Coefficients varying between 0-1 (no value) to 1 (maximum intensity of valor) were the issue of this estimate. The estimate was examined at a community section (according to an administrative partition in June the first 1975). The towns were included into the communities to obtain a maximum comparison of the data. Estimate of the geographic environment was examined on the point of view of the most important trends in a tourist movement as the environment plays an unequal role in this movement. The summer sightseeing including camping, water sports recreation and the winter sightseeing including skiing were taken into consideration. Individual estimate referring to the mentioned trends were presented in the form o cartogram. The paper also contains a summary referring to an estimate degree of the geographic environment as regards the tourist needs. This estimation was based under the comparison of an ability for the geographic environment according to the community partion to compare the tourist equipment of these communities indicated by density coefficients of the common lodging houses. Conclusions refer to the activity which should be undertaken to make the most of the geographic environment for the needs of the sightseeing in Suwałki voivodship.
