The original report of the research upon the tool wear monitoring in milling of medium density fiberboard is presented in the paper. The results of the research prove that the cutting parameters and operating conditions are critical to tool life. The correlation between chip thickness (feed rate) and steel tool wear and cutting length is described. The diagram of tool life in milling of MDF with different chip thickness is shown.
It is this genuine report from the first part of the work on characterization of the CNC machining centers through the simple icons. The ranking of machining centres according to the criterion of the shape of the machine frame is presented in the paper.
Additional research based on previous article, titled „ Correlation between the cutters wear and chip thickness in milling of MDF". Report shows results of research on influence of tool wear and chip thickness on various parameters characterizing milling of medium density fiberboard. Cutting force, feed force, machined surface temperature and power consumption of cutting and feed mechanisms are presented, is presented in the paper. The correlation between chip thickness (feed rate), steel tool wear and force, power and temperature parameters cutting length is calculated and described.
Principles of lifelong learning in woodworking industry. Lifelong learning of adults is regarded as a one of the most important factors of social development and economic growth. Definitions like “knowledge society” or “knowledge-based economy” are in operation in many Polish and EU preparations or documents. They are regarded as modern reality, but are also challenge and program of the future. In highly developing woodworking industry, undergoing structural changes and trying to pace with technical and technological advance, permanent improvement of qualifications of the workers is almost forced. Article deals with assumptions and andragogical models of lifelong learning, in terms of creation of Lifelong Learning Center for woodworking industry. Task is somehow requiring, because of high complexity of woodworking industry knowledge base, ranging from biology, thru chemistry, mechanical science and other technical sciences, up to artistic design. Another problem is created by high dispersion of the industry, consisting of several thousands of rather small enterprises, each having its specific requirements. Consciousness of necessity of constant education of woodworking industry employees should contribute to implementation of andragogical learning models in this sector, mainly by creation of Lifelong Learning Centers for Woodworking Industry.
Glass fibre fabric reinforced particleboard. Possible upgrading of particleboard strength properties has been examined by addition of reinforcing layers in a form of glass fibre fabric. Physical, mechanical properties and density profile of the manufactured particleboard variants have been examined and compared with the properties of the control particleboards. Almost double increase in MOR, MOE and IB has been obtained for particleboards with glass fibre fabric placed on the board surface.
Surface finishing and its impact on violin acoustic quality. Paper deals with violin surface finishing. Violin top board properties were investigated in coating - resonant board relation. Influence of coating on frequency and amplitude characteristics of final product (violin) was investigated.
