The density of mucky formations has been examined in relation to their water retention properties. It was observed that the muck moisture content corresponding to the high values of suction pressures (pF 3.4 and 4.2) were correlated with the density of these formations on a highly significant level (p = 0.01) but correlation coefficients were not high (0.284-0.488). However, slightly higher values of these correlation coefficients were obtained by means of available and easy-available water retentions (0.378-0.530) which negatively correlated with muck density.
