Praca przedstawia wyniki trzyletnich badań nad wpływem wzrastających dawek potasu na stan ilościowy i jakościowy grzybów podstawy łodyg i korzeni ziemniaka. Zastosowano następujące nawożenie mineralne: 1) N₈₀P₈₀K₀; 2) N₈₀P₈₀K₈₀; 3) N₈₀P₈₀K₁₆₀; 4) N₈₀P₈₀K₂₄₀ na ha oraz użyto trzech odmian ziemniaka: Muza, Oda i Orłan. Poletka doświadczalne zlokalizowano na glebie lekkiej, piaszczystej, klasy V, kompleksu żytniego. Bezpośrednio po kwitnieniu i dwa tygodnie przed zbiorem ziemniaków pobierano rośliny celem wyosobnienia grzybów z podstawy łodyg i korzeni. W laboratorium dokonano izolacji grzybów według metody Harleya i Waida. Wzrastające dawki potasu i odmiany ziemniaka zróżnicowały skład ilościowy i jakościowy zbiorowiska grzybów podstawy łodyg i korzeni ziemniaka. Najwięcej grzybów wyosobniono z kontroli oraz z kombinacji nawozowych, gdzie stosowano niższe dawki potasu: 80-160 kg K₂O·ha⁻¹. Wśród grzybów patogenicznych dominowały gatunki: Alternaria alternata, Colletotrichum coccodes, Botrytis cinerea, Fusarium avenaceum i Rhizoctonia solani.
The abundance and species composition of fungi colonizing grain of spring wheat cvs. 'Koksa' and 'Torka', grown in the conventional and organic farming systems, was assessed in 2004-2006. More colonies of Alternaria alternata, Aureo- basidium pullulans, Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium spp., Gibberella spp. were isolated from wheat grain obtained from conventional farms. Intensive chemical control did not reduce the abundance and species diversity of Fusarium spp., Gibberella spp. A considerably higher number of Epicoccum nigrum colonies were isolated in the organic farming system, as compared with the conventional system.
The achenes of milk thistle contain a variety of lipids, proteins and biologically active substance, which is why they are used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, as well as an ingredient of functional food and animal feed. The yield of milk thistle is determined by both agrotechnological factors (sowing date, cultivation regime, fertilization) and the health status of plants. The study was conducted over the years 2009–2011 in experimental plots located in Tomaszkowo (NE Poland). The experiment involved the following treatments: 1. N₀PK, 2. N₀PKMg, 3. N₀PKMg+microelement B, 4. N₁PK, 5. N₁PKMg, 6. N₁PKMg+B, 7. N₂PK, 8. N₂PKMg, 9. ₂N₂PKMg+B, 10. N₃PK, 11. N₃PKMg, 12. N₃PKMg+B (where: N0 – without nitrogen fertilization, N1 – 40 kg · ha⁻¹ /ammonium nitrate/, N2 – 80 kg · ha⁻¹, N3 – 120 kg · ha⁻¹, P – 40 kg · ha⁻¹ /triple superphosphate/, K – 117 kg · ha⁻¹ /60% potash salt/, Mg – 20 kg · ha⁻¹ /kieserite/ before sowing, B – foliar application/Bormax/). The structure of fungal communities colonizing the stems of milk thistle was analyzed at the laboratory. Achene yield was determined after harvest. The composition of fungal communities colonizing the stems of milk thistle was affected by weather conditions, and macronutrient and B fertilization. Potential pathogens had a 50–80% share of the fungal community. The predominant species was Alternaria alternata, fungi of the genus Fusarium were identified less frequently (six species), while Rhizoctonia solani, Botrytis cinerea and Phoma spp. were encountered only sporadically. The abundance of A. alternata was lower in treatments without N fertilization and with N fertilization at 40 kg P · ha⁻¹. In contrast to A. alternata, fungi of the genus Fusarium were less abundant in treatments with Mg and Mg+B fertilization. The yield of milk thistle achenes increased in response to increasing rates of nitrogen fertilization.
The lesser grain borer (Rhizopertha dominica F.) belongs to insects, which cause the highest and most severe losses in stored products. Therefore, the aim of this experiment was to determine the effect of the technological properties of three different wheat cultivars on the development of this insect species. The material for the study consisted of grains of three wheat cultivars: Figura, Kampana and Komnata. The experiment was carried out under fixed conditions: 30°C and 75% humidity. Statistically significant effect of all the analyzed factors and their mutual interactions on the analyzed parameters was shown, except a wheat cultivar factor, which proved to be non-significant in respect to the abundance of new generation of beetles. The cultivar Kampana, classified as class C wheat, i.e. fodder wheat, proved to be susceptible to feeding by the lesser grain borer.
This study investigates the effect of the enrichment of Scots pine stands with a common beech understorey on changes in the species composition and selected life traits of an important zooindicator group, such as the ground beetles (Col. Carabidae). The field investigations were carried out in a fresh coniferous forest in the Myszyniec Forest District (N Poland) in stands with (P+) and without (P) beech in the understorey. Each treatment was repeated four times. In each repetition, six pitfalls were installed. The traps were replaced 13 times, every two weeks, from April to October. In total, 4412 specimens classified into 25 species of ground beetles were captured. The tree stands with the beech understorey were observed to contain a significantly higher number of species than the ones with the beech undergrowth. Also, the value of the Shannon index of species diversity (H’) and mean individual biomass (MIB) were significantly higher in the treatment with the beech understorey. Principal Component Analysis showed variations in Carabidae assemblages within the analysed types of forest. Pterostichus oblongopunctatus, Pterostichus aethiops and Pterostichus vernalis were more strongly correlated with the stands without beech understorey. The stands enriched with the beech understorey correlated with the occurrence of large zoophages: Carabus arvensis and Cychrus caraboides, and hemizoophages of the genus Amara. An in−depth ecological characterisation of the captured Carabidae showed that the dominant ground beetles in the investigated forest habitats, in terms of the number of caught individuals and species, belonged to forest zoophagous carabids characterised by moderate requirements for moisture in a habitat, and having the spring type of development. Representatives of large zoophages and species with the autumn type of development, i.e. species associated with later ecological succession stages, were more numerously caught in the pine stands without the beech understorey The study provides evidence that justifies the planting of deciduous undergowth in monoculture coniferous pine tree forests. The presence of an understorey contributes to higher: richness of Carabidae species, values of the MIB and abundance of large forest species presenting the autumn type of development, that is the species, which are characteristic for forest areas representing a highly advanced succession stage.
Biegaczowate są grupą zwierząt zamieszkujących środowiska naturalne i przekształcone antropogenicznie. Badania przeprowadzono w roku 2007 i 2009 w granicach administracyjnych miasta Olsztyn (UTM: DE 65). Objęto nimi dwa rodzaje zadrzewień śródmiejskich: park zlokalizowany pomiędzy jeziorem i kampusem uniwersyteckim oraz dwa nieczynne cmentarze. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań zaobserwowano różnice w składzie ilościowym, jakościowym i strukturach zgrupowań Carabidae obiektów badawczych.
Sewage sludge, thanks to its content of nutrients, can be used as a fertilizer for lawns. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the applied dose of sewage sludge and variety of lawn grasses and changes in the quality and quantity of microorganisms in the root zone of grass. The community of fungi isolated from the rhizoplane was significantly dominated by fungi belonging to the Fusarium genus, including F. oxysporum. The share of these fungi in the isolated community increased with the dose of sewage sludge. It was also found that the share of some saprotrophic fungi significantly increased after application of the sludge at a dose of 60 t•ha-1 and decreased after its application at the highest dose of 150 t•ha-1. The lowest number of fungi of the Fusarium genus was observed in the roots of perennial rye-grass (30.3% of all isolates), while their highest number occurred in creeping red fescue (44.3% of all isolates). Based on all the results, such as the level of dominance, the number of potential pathogens and bacteria and fungi saprotrophic observed that the dose of 60 t•ha-1 is the most favorable option, while the use of a dose of 150 t•ha-1 may increase the share of pathogenic fungi in the community fungi, without causing beneficial changes in the number of microorganisms inhabiting rhizosferę terms lawns where no fertilizer was applied.
Spring barley was grown in 2004–2006 on the experimental plots in Bałcyny. The average root rot infection index remained at a similar level and significant differences were modified by crop rotation selection. Symptoms of leaf blotch, net blotch and powdery mildew were recorded on barley leaves. Pyrenophora teres and Rhynchosporium secalis infected cereal leaves more frequently in the conventional system than in the organic system. Conversion period was inhibited influence the intensification of barley leaf dieases. Evaluation of steam base revealed higher severity of fusarium foot rot and eyespot infection in the conventional farming system than in the organic. Fusarium fungi were the largest group of isolates, and destructive pathogen Cochliobolus sativus colonized barley that derived from the organic farming tenfold more frequently, and Aureobasidium and Microdochium were isolated with higher frequency from the barley grown in the conventional system.
Winter triticale cultivar Witon was grown in 2004–2006 on the experimental plots in Bałcyny (NE Poland). The first two years of conducting the experiment referred to a period of converting the conventional production system to organic. Organic crop production started in 2006. The results of the experiment, showed that the average root rot infection index was higher in the organic farming system (22.4%) than in the conventional system (17.4%), in contrast to the data on the severity of stem base diseases, eyespot and fusarium foot rot (17.9, 31.8% and 30.7, 35.8% in the organic and conventional systems, respectively). Fungicides used in the conventional farming system effectively reduced the development of cereal leaf pathogens. The symptoms of infection caused by Puccinia recondita were recorded only in the organic farming system (35.0%). The severity of tan spot of cereals reached 94.0% in the organic system, and only 6.0% in the conventional system.
