In her article, the author presents the tendencies for development of trade chains in Poland and analyses the course of the process of expansion of Polish chains to the foreign markets. She emphasises that more and more distinctly appearing tendency in development of trade chains is a growing interest among entrepreneurs in the franchise form of cooperation. Among the most significant trade chains, there is prevailing the very form.
Contemporary organisations must constantly react to alterations in the environment, primarily to a strong competition and ever growing requirements towards their customers. Coping with these challenges may be facilitated by existence of a well qualified, adequately skilled, and involved in implementation of the company's tasks staff of employees. Today, nobody doubts that they are the most important factor for company's development, inseparably connected with implementation of the company's overall developmental strategy, and significantly help to achieve a competitive advantage. The most important tasks faced by human resources management comprise improvement of work of personnel services co-responsible for shaping personnel policy.
The ever growing process of internationalisation increases interest in entering and developing of enterprises' activities in foreign markets also by Polish trade and service chains operating in the franchising formula. The scale of this phenomenon is yet not large. Their units outside Poland have put 12% of all the Polish systems. The foreign expansion in non-capital form concerns, first of all, trade (retail) systems, and, to a small degree, service ones. Polish systems are now in twenty European countries, and one system operates in South America. A further growth of internationalisation and strengthening of Polish systems is conditioned, inter alia, by strengthening their position in the domestic market, improvement of Polish products to be competitive, improvement of the image of Polish chains as well as by raising standards of operation and skills of the managerial staff.
