In the previous investigations (5, 6) it has been found that opsonophagocytic activity of serum was higher than that of milk. This phenomenon was quite independent on a test bacterial strain used in the studies. It was concluded, therefore, that this property, i.e. the ratio of serum opsonophagocytic activity to that of milk, was of unspecific character. This finding was made during chronic streptococcal mastitis, and it was confirmed by Canadian authors (2, 3). The described relation between the opsonophagocytic potency of serum and milk occurred also in acute experimental mastitis (4, 7). The purpose of this work, in which healthy cows were examined during their first lactation, was to confirm observations made in the previous investigations.

При помощи компьютеризованной и автоматизированной системы исследования активности N-ацетил-В-D-глюкозаминидазы в молоке коров (NAG-аза критерий система, Eflab) диагнозировали воспалительные состояния (подклинические и oкрытые инфекции) молочных желез. Критерий NAG-азы опредоляет активность энзима отдельно для каждой доли относительно доли с наименьшей активностью в пределах вымени исследуемой коровы. Результаты измерений активности NAG-азы сопоставляли с результатами исследаваний: клинических вымени, бактериологических и цитологических молока. Результаты указывают на положительную взаимозависимость между содержанием соматических клеток в молоке и активностью NAG-азы. Активность энзима была статистически существенно выше в молоке из желез, инфицированных патогенными для вымени микроорганизмами, чем в молоке из желез, свободных от патогенов либо инфицированных Micrococcus. Кртерием NAG-азы обнаружили наивысший процент инфекции вымени, вызванных Sc. agalactiae и S. aureus.

W doświadczeniu wazonowym z babką lancetowatą badano wpływ nawożenia mineralnego na plon i zawartość aukubiny w zielu. W pierwszym roku wegetacji najwyższe plony ziela uzyskano nawożąc rośliny azotem, fosforem i potasem. Zawartość aukubiny w zielu wynosiła w granicach od 0,66 do 2,07%. Wykazano też, że na zawartość aukubiny wpływa głównie termin zbioru surowca, w mniejszym stopniu zastosowane nawożenie.

Z korzenia Glycyrrhiza glabra L. wyizolowanoiükurazyd. W wyniku jego hydrolizy otrzymano likwirytygeninę i izolikwirytygeninę, które rozdzielono metodą rotacyjnej chromatografii cienko­warstwowej. Związki te zastosowano jako wzorce w oznaczeniach ilościowych. Opracowano następujące metody oznaczania zawartości likwirytygeniny i izolikwirytygeniny w surowcu: HPLC, spektrofotometryczną, densytometryczną i kolorymetryczną. Wymienione me­tody oznaczania porównano na przykładzie trzech próbek Radix Glycyrrhizae.

Assessments of treatment of Osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD) of shoulder joint in dogs - the result of two years of experience

Osteochondrosis is a common and clinically important joint disorder that occurs in human and many species of animals such as pigs, horses and dogs. The aim of this article is to present the results of conservative and surgical treatment of Osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD) and to compare the recovery time in relation to race, age and extent of cartilage damage. The study was performed on 36 dogs of both sexes, aged from 4 to 24 months, weighing 12-70 kg, of different breeds (predisposed and non-specific for this disease). All patients underwent clinical, orthopedic and radiological examination through which the location of OCD changes in the shoulder joint and the degree of this problem were established. Based on the examinations the patients were qualified for particular treatment procedures. Control tests were performed after 14, 30 and 60 days, which allowed for a precise evaluation of the progress of therapy. Achieved results indicate that dogs age and the lesions extent in the shoulder joint have an impact on the outcome of treatment. Studies showed that the best therapeutic effects were obtained in dogs aged 6-10 months, which underwent surgery. The study proved that the early diagnosis of OCD strongly influence the recovery rate and may inhibit the development of degenerative changes in the joint (DJD).

This article aims to compare the treatment of fragmented coronary process in the context of clinical results. Forty-two dogs of both sexes, aged from 5 months to 2 years, all belonging to the predisposed breeds, were tested. Each patient was subjected to radiological and clinical examination on the basis of which was classified into one of four degrees of dysplasia according to criteria of the International Elbow Working Group. Then the decision towards specific therapeutic procedures, operational or pharmacological, was taken. About 4-12 weeks after the surgery, the control examination was performed. It allowed to assess the post-surgery mobility. The results depended on the age of animal at which treatment was carried out, and the degree of degenerative changes in the joint. The studies have shown that the best results were obtained in a group of dogs aged 5-9 months, in whom a dynamic ulna osteotomy was performed. This indicates the need for early diagnosis of disease and rapid implementation of the treatment, to eradicate the problem of radial- ulnar incongruity, thereby preventing the development of further changes within the joint.
