The most intensive displacement of Pb and Cd in the Goczałkowice Reservoir occurred from water near the bottom to the bottom sediment and to the interstitial water as well as from the interstitial water to the bottom sediment and to water near the bottom. The time of removing Pb and Cd from water near the bottom to the interstitial water was on average 21 days for Pb and 2.75 days for Cd, but from water near the bottom to the bottom sediment 0.23 day for Pb and 0.02 day for Cd. In the increase in Pb content in water near the bottom also precipitation played an important role.
The aim of this study was to determine physiological and toxic metals in the teeth of inhabitants of Ruda Slaska and Bielsko-Biala - differently polluted areas - and to find out if environmental exposure to heavy metals has an influence on the occurrence and coexistence of these metals in teeth. The material consisted of 401 permanent teeth from inhabitants of these two cities. The contents of Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb, Zn, K, Na, Ca and Mg were determined by means of flame atomic absorption spectrometry. We concluded that environmental exposure to heavy metals has an influence on the occurrence and coexistence of these elements in teeth.
Blood thallium level in 148 subjects employed in Zinc and Lead Works, Miasteczko Śląskie, and permanently exposed to secondary dusting, was investigated. Blood thallium concentration was found to range from 0.127 to 4.942 µG/cm3 and to be relative to the period of occupation, age of subjects, and their addiction to smoking.

The range of changes in the occurrence of heavy metals in the water was very wide, no seasonal trend being assessed in the changes of their content. The content of copper diminished with increasing depth of the sampling layer. In the water layer near the bottom an increase in the content of iron and manganese was observed. For the remaining metals no uniform direction of changes in their content depending on water depth was determined. An increased average level of zinc and copper was maintained in the Rybnik Reservoir in relation to the norms for purity class I, the mean content of the remaining metals not exceeding the norm.
