New records of the following weevil species are given: Otiorhynchus pulverulentus v. rumicis, O. pauxillus, Plinthus sturmi, Adexius scrobipennis, Alophus kaufmanni, A. carpathicus, Donus viennensis, Bagous lutulentus, Ellescus infirmus, Miarus abnormis. All of them are rare in Poland.
Dorytomus majalis (PAYK.) has been recorded for the first time from the Polish part of the Carpathians, and Catapion meieri (DESBR.), and Polydrusus inustus GERM. from the Polish part of the Western Carpathians. Another thirthy three weevil species (Rhynchitidae 1 species, Brentidae 4 species, Curculionidae 28 species) are recorded for the first time from the Kotlina Nowotarska land.
Results of new investigations of the weevil fauna of the Polish Tatra Mountains are presented. Fifteen weevil species (Brentidae 4, Curculionidae 11) have been recorded for the first time from this territory. After verification of all fauna records concerning Tatra's Curculionoidea, it is proposed that 57 weevil species (Brentidae 1, Attelabidae 1, Curculionidae 55) should be excluded from the fauna lists of the Polish Tatra Mts. However, 18 other weevil species (Brentidae 6, Curculionidae 12) should be included in these lists. Weevil fauna of the Polish Tatra Mts. includes counts 198 species (Nemonychidae 1, Brentidae 38, Attelabidae 1, Curculionidae 158).
Otiorhynchus sulcatus (F.) is recorded from the Polish Carpathians for the first time. Others 23 weevil species are new to the fauna of four Carpathian mountain ranges. At present the fauna of the Gorce Mts. includes 272 weevil species, Pieniny Centralne Mts. - 320, Pieniny Spiskie Mts. - 222, and Polish part of Magura Spiska Mts. - 190.
The Tatra Mountains constitute an area of great natural value. They comprise all bioclimatic zones typical for true alpine environment and play an important role for conservation of European biodiversity. For almost two centuries, the Tatra nature has been attracting interest of scientists of many specializations. Although history of investigations on beetles dates back to the middle of the XIX century, only one monographical work, concerning Curculionoidea, has been published so far. Other coleopteran groups have been only partially studied, and recent data are scarce. In this paper, we give an overview of current data on the fauna of Coleoptera in the Polish part of the Tatra Mts. Summarizing data from the Catalogue of the Fauna of Poland (KFP) and results of our own studies, we estimate beetle richness of the Polish part of the Tatras at 1415 species representing 81 families. We also try to answer questions on accuracy and representativeness of data in KFP, and propose solutions to improve knowledge of this group in the future.
