The development of advertising competition forces to undertake measures aimed at increasing effectiveness of the process of influencing potential customers. Advertisers more and more often reach for non-conventional and innovative solutions that are a part of innovativeness in a broad sense. This is facilitated by the development of modern mass media. The article touches the problem of the possibility to implement innovative solutions in advertising and perception thereof among consumers. The grounds for considerations are quantitative research surveys carried out among enterprises conducting their active advertising as well as recipients of those activities.
The ongoing in the contemporary economies developments of a globalisation nature exert a greater and greater impact on enterprises' activities. This applies not only to the largest international entities whose essence of activity is expansion into the global market. Equally important is impact of globalisation on operation of enterprises with a scope of activities limited, at the utmost, to the market of one country or region. Many of them see in globalisation, first of all, the factor of threat to their market position resulting from an ever growing competition. Only part of them notice the benefits issuing from it, indicating the opportunity to expand their sales market. However, all are forced to intensify the activities they undertake either in order to counteract threats or to use the emerging opportunities.
An increasing role of foreign enterprises operating in the Polish market prompts to consider the way of their expansion in the Polish market. In the era of ever growing globalisation, they face the dilemma of choice of the concept for activities to be carried out in markets abroad. There is a clash between two different concepts of conduct. The first is related to standardisation of activities issuing from the use of global marketing rules, while the second one is based on individualised marketing. Choice of one of these concepts entails the need to adjust all market actions, starting from the way of market entering, through product policy, and ending on marketing communication.
One of the most important stages of promotional activities management its their evaluation. However, many Polish enterprises do not carry out activities evaluating promotion effects. Those, which undertake such procedures, focus, first of all, on comparison of sales volumes, and they more seldom use surveys aimed at a complex description of the promotion effects. The reason for such a state of affairs are, on the one hand, financial barriers and, on the other hand, lack of knowledge on the usable methods of evaluation and lack of trust in their reliability. Worrying is also the fact that the majority of enterprises do not intend, in the nearest future, to introduce whatever alterations as regards evaluation of effects of promotion. This means that we shall still have to do with the campaigns being carried out based on intuition and not fully reasonable market information.
One of the key factors deciding on municipality's competitiveness as regards winning investors and attracting individuals is its image. Municipality's image is a sum of convictions and impressions on it occurring in the environment as well as emotional associations and attitudes towards it. The process of its shaping is long, and there are used numbers of tools for this purpose, such as human resources, local products and their prices, system of visualisation of the municipality and promotional actions undertaken by the self-governmental, economic and social institutions operating in a given area. Beneficiaries of benefits yielded from the municipality's image in raising its competitiveness are ultimately local economic entities and the whole community.
