W pracy przeprowadzono ocenę poprawności stosowania metod modelowania matematycznego zmian wilgotności w profilu glebowym w oparciu o wyniki pomiarów terenowych uwilgotnienia gleby oraz standardowych pomiarów opadów atmosferycznych i stanów wód gruntowych. Analizy przeprowadzono w oparciu o serię obserwacyjną opadów atmosferycznych i stanów wód gruntowych z okresu od 1 lipca do 30 września 2006 roku pochodzącą z terenu Obserwatorium Agro- i Hydrometeorologicznego Uniwersytetu Przyrodniczego we Wrocławiu. Do opisu procesu przepływu wody w badanym profilu glebowym wykorzystano uogólnione równanie Richardsa umożliwiające symulowanie procesu przepływu wody zarówno w strefie aeracji jak i saturacji.

In the paper the assessment of methods of mathematical modelling of soil moisture variability is presented, basing on field measurements of precipitation, soil moisture and groundwater levels. Analysis was performed basing on observations of precipitation and ground water levels during the period from the 1st of July to the 30th of September in 2006 originated from the area of Agro and Hydrometeorology Observatory Wroclaw-Swojec of Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences. To achieve these objective, measurements of soil moisture with the TDR method from the same period under bare soil and grassy land at the depths of: 5, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 cm were used. Function parameters, characterizing the type of the soil (pF curve and hydraulic conductivity) were adopted as suggested by Van Genuchten. Constants appearing in these functions were approximated with similar method as applied in the paper to determine the function of water consumption by plant roots. For the description of water flow in the soil profile Richard’s equation, that allows the simulation of the flow in both aeration and saturation zones was used. To obtain a clear solution of that equation, soil moisture and groundwater level values measured on the first day of the experiment, were adopted as the initial condition. Precipitation sums measured with the precipitation gauge and the pluviograph were used to identify the boundary conditions.
