The effect of various number of Trioza apicalis larvae feeding in insulators, on yielding of four carrot cultivars was investigated in a pot experiment in 2007–2008. Three variants of the experiment were used: 4 larvae/pot, 2 larvae/pot and control pots (without Trioza). The experiment was conducted in three replications of each variant. Feeding time of the pest lasted 6 weeks. At harvest time carrots in each pot were analysed taking into consideration the number (and per cent) of marketable roots, the length of each root and the weight of individual roots. Feeding of T. apicalis larvae on leaves, leads to high and significant losses in the yield of carrot (size and weight of 1 root). The magnitude of losses depended on the number of larvae feeding in an insulator, and on carrot cultivar. The highest percentage decrease in the yield were found in cultivar Amsterdamska. In 2008, the decrease in weight of root reached: 50% in the case of two larvae per pot, and 80% in that of four larvae.
