W pracy porównano zmienność genotypów pszenżyta jarego w latach 1994-1999 oraz 2003-2008. Materiał badawczy stanowiły odmiany i rody hodowlane zgromadzone w kolekcji prowadzonej przez Instytut Genetyki, Hodowli i Biotechnologii Roślin Uniwersytetu Przyrodniczego w Lublinie.

In the paper a variability of spring triticale genotypes between years 1994-1999 and 2003-2008 were compared. The examined material consisted of cultivars and clones collected by the Institute of Genetics, Breeding and Plant Biotechnology University of Life Sciences in Lublin. The research was carried out in a 4-year cycle of one-plot replicate field experiments. Each genotype was examined for at least 4 seasons. Data were arranged in an incomplete, random two-way classification: genotypes by years separately for each analyzed 6-year periods. The following 10 quantitative traits were evaluated: weight of grains per spike, no. of grains per spike, 1000-grain weight, spike length, no. of spikelets per spike, spikelet fertility, protein content in grain, plant height, no. of days: emergence - heading and no. of days: emergence - maturity. Analyses of variance for each trait data were done. Variance components were estimated for each trait separately using the REML method. Coefficients of repeatability of phenotypic means were estimated. Estimates of random genotypic values were obtained using the BLUP predictor. To analyze phenotypic diversity of the germplasm collection principal component analysis was used on the basis of the standarized BLUP values. The traits with the largest distinguishing power of examined genotypes in the years 1994-1999 were: weight of grains per spike, no. of grains per spike, spikelet fertility, protein content in grain and also no. of spikelets per spike, spike length and plant height. Traits having the largest discriminating power in the years 2003-2008 were: weight of grains per spike, spikelet fertility, protein content in grain, no. of days: emergence - heading and emergence - maturity. Genotypes in this period did not vary in plant height.
