The aim of the study was to obtain an efficient method of Arnica montana regeneration. The donor material comprised 10-day-old seedlings. Surface sterilized seeds were germinated on MS medium supplemented with GA3 (1 mg∙dm-3). Seedling explants (shoot tips, fragments of cotyledons, hypocotyls and roots) were excised and transferred on the proliferation medium supplemented with different concentrations of cytokinins: BA (0.5; 1.0 and 3.0 mg∙dm-3), zeatin (1.0 and 3.0 mg∙dm-3) and kinetin (1.0 and 3.0 mg∙dm-3) in combination with NAA (0.1 mg∙dm-3) or 0.05 mg∙dm-3 (for BA at the concentration 0.5 mg∙dm-3). It was observed that only shoot tips exhibited morphogenetical responses. The highest frequency of shoot organogenesis (83%) was observed in the explants cultured on the medium supplemented with 3.0 mg∙dm-3 BA. On the average 2.5 shoots from one explants were obtained under these conditions. The presence of BA in the proliferation medium inhibited the elongation growth, development of leaf lamina and rhizogenesis. The individual shoots were rooted on MS and 1/2 MS medium without auxin. Decreasing the amount of mineral salts in the rooting medium stimulated rhizogenesis process. Plantlets after acclimatization were transferred to the soil. Addition of the acid peat into the soil, in the ratio of 2:1, increased the survival rate by 10-times.
