Analysis of the impact of lateral retention reservoir to the groundwater level of the surrounding areas

The article presents the impact of retention reservoir to the groundwater level on the surrounding areas. The retention reservoir is located outside of the riverbed and elevated above the original site. The method of numerical modelling was used for getting a result of pressure distribution and groundwater fl ow for the study area. This method is based on the solution of Bousinessq equation in certain boundary conditions. Computational MODFLOW program was used for the calculation of groundwater flow which is based on the finite difference method to a symmetrical discretization of the grid. As a result of this analysis it was affirmed that the reservoir has negligible impact on the groundwater level of the surrounding areas.
