The aim of study was to analyze paroxysmal arrhythmias in dogs. In the years 2006-2009 in the Department of Internal Diseases with Horses, Dogs and Cats Clinic, Veterinary Medicine Faculty, University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wroclaw, 273 ECG recording were analyzed. Paroxysmal arrhythmias, resulting in paroxysmal dyspnea or fainting, were diagnosed in 102 dogs. The recorded arrhythmias were correlated with the symptoms in dogs. The most frequently recorded arrhythmia were numerous over 1000 beats/24 h often polymorphic premature ventricular beats. The least frequent arrhythmia was paroxysmal atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation.
