A total of 1000 samples of pig faeces were examined from which 24 strains of Salmonella spp were isolated (2.4%). Out of 700 samples of faeces coming from industrial fattening units Salmonella strains were discovered in 8 samples (1.1 %) and of 300 samples collected from individual small farms — 16 samples (5.3%). The strains isolated were classified to 5 serotypes, i.e. S. typhimurium (9 times), S. enteritidis (6 times), S. livingstone (4 times), S. anatum (3 times) and S. stanley (twice).
