Hoof diseases currently belong to the most important problems among high-yielding dairy cattle. The aim of the study was to determine the frequency of hoof disease occurrence according to number and phase of lactation. The research was performed from 1 May 2011 to 29 February 2012, in three farms in Wielkopolska. The subjects for the experiments were 343 cows of PHF breed, in which as a result of hoof correction, some irregularities were found. The research proved an increased frequency of hoof disease occurrence during the first lactation I general (46, 36%) and in the third phase (>200d) of each single lactation. The received results reflect a lack of basic prophylaxis and decreased immunity in high-yielding dairy cows, especially in the last phase of lactation. These may reflect the lack of the application of basic prophylactic procedures as well as the lowered resistance of high-yielding cows in the last phase of lactation, which has a negative effect on the economic results obtained by cow breeders.
