The Authors have made a review of legal possibilities of creating producer groups in Poland, and the rules and amount of financial assistance provided to them. On the basis of empirical data from four co-operative producer groups, the Authors strived to follow their development in the first years of operation. On the basis of survey studies conducted, an attempt was made to elicit farmers' opinions about this organizational form. Survey-interviews were conducted with farmers who are members of co-operative producer groups — those who would be the most interested in a better organization and integration of their operations on a competitive market.
