Pomurnik Tichodroma muraria (L.) gniazduje obecnie w Polsce wyłącznie w Tatrach. Są to najbardziej na północ wysunięte stanowiska lęgowe tego gatunku. W artykule zestawiono dawniejsze i współczesne obserwacje tego taksonu w polskiej części Tatr, a obszerniej omówiono wyniki inwentaryzacji przeprowadzonych w latach 1995–1997 i 2006. Pomurniki są stwierdzane w Tatrach od roku 1835 (w polskiej części od r. 1850), obecnie głównie w Tatrach Zachodnich. Najważniejszymi ostojami gatunku są: Dolina Kościeliska – zwłaszcza rejon Kominiarskiego Wierchu i Wąwóz Kraków, Dolina Kasprowa i Kościelec. Liczebność gatunku w latach 90. XX wieku oceniono na 16–19 par, z tego w granitowych Tatrach Wysokich (w latach 1995–1997) wykryto jedynie rewiry trzech par. W trakcie cenzusu w 2006 roku stwierdzono brak ptaków na niektórych stanowiskach, a obecny stan liczebny oceniono na 10–15 lub nawet tylko na 5–10 par. Tatrzańska populacja lęgowa podlega fluktuacjom związanym prawdopodobnie z ekstremalnymi warunkami pogodowymi zwłaszcza wiosną. Pomurniki gniazdują w Tatrach Zachodnich przede wszystkim na skałach wapiennych, bogato urzeźbionych i porośniętych roślinnością zielną oraz trawami. Głównym zagrożeniem dla populacji, obok drapieżników i niekorzystnej pogody, może być niepokojenie ptaków przez alpinistów. Istnieje pilna potrzeba rozpoczęcia regularnego monitoringu pomurnika, by dokładniej określić jego liczebność w polskich Tatrach

The Wallcreeper Tichodroma muraria (L.) is a unique and highly specialized Passerine species. It inhabits rock faces in the mountain ranges of southern Europe, Middle East and Central Asia. In Poland its breeding is recorded now only in the Tatra Mountains. The paper reports historical and recent observations of the species in the Polish part of the range (detailed results of the research conducted in 1995–1997 and again in 2006 are included). The Wallcreepers have been observed in the Polish Tatra Mountains since 1850, recently mostly in the Western Tatras; the main refugia are: the Kościeliska Valley (particularly Kominiarski Wierch and Wąwóz Kraków), the Kasprowa Valley and Kościelec Mt. Their estimated numbers in the late 1990s was 16–19 breeding pairs. However, some of the previously known breeding sites were not occupied in 2006, and the numbers of the species are thought to be lower now, either 10–15 or even 5–10 pairs; probably the population fluctuations connected with weather conditions. The Wallcreepers breed mainly on limestone rock faces with structured surface and clumps of vegetation; thus their habitat preferences are consistent with the observations from other mountain ranges. The main threat to the population, apart from predators and harsh weather conditions, is the disturbance of the breeding birds by climbers. There is an urgent need for a regular species monitoring programme to determine its actual numbers and to study the condition of the population in the Polish Tatra Mountains.
