The article characterizes economic results and operational efficiency of furniture companies in Poland between 2006 and 2011. Despite the European economic crisis, the Polish furniture industry recorded a significant increase in sold production, mainly due to substantial growth of export. Good sales results and favourable exchange rates positively boosted the profitability of furniture companies. Sales increase together with insignificant fluctuations in employment levels resulted in higher work efficiency while large capital intensity of the furniture industry has been decisive for the decline in industry capital return.
