Present state of mathematical description of ship dynamic non-linear behaviour is pre-sented in this paper with a view to avoiding excessive complications in solving the problem. The non-linearity concerns first of all Froude-Krilov forces and damping forcesoccurring after entering ship's deck into water or those resulting from drag of bilge keels.And, to the remaining, accompanying and diffraction forces the linear extrapolation hasbeen applied
