Broth cultures of Ureaplasma diversum introduced intravaginally or vaginal musous from infected heifers rubbed into the vaginal mucosa of normal heifers colonized permanently the vaginal vestibule and vagina of heifers. Ureaplasms were isolated, although less often than from vagina, also from te urinary bladder, urethra and vaginal cervix. As a results of infection a granular vulvovaginitis has developed. The examined strains of Ureaplasma varied by virulence. The virulence of U. diversum increased after a consecutive passages in heifers. The incubation period of the disease was shortened and the clinical signs were more pronounced.
