Over the past few years, there has been a renaissance of interest in the issues of physico-geographical regionalization of Poland. The Kondracki (2009) regional division of the Poland (fig. 1), developed and improved over the years, has become an unquestionable standard and is a reference for a variety of not only scientific but also application studies. The authors' intention was to verify and adjust the boundaries of the physico-geographical mesoregions reference to the scale of 1 :50 000, to ensure the ability of their precisely display in terms of the scale of 1: 200 000 to 1 :50 000. In this approach, the basic assumptions influencing the methodical aspects of verification of the course of the mesoregion boundaries have been formulated taking into account the original assumptions of the author of the physico-geographical regionalisation. In the verification of the mesoregions boundaries within the Masovian voivodeship (fig. 2) various source materials were used, including detailed DTM and currently available lithological and geological data (fig. 3). Analysis of the detailed data and results of the latest research made it possible to refine the course of mesoregion borders within Mazowieckie voivodship (fig. 2 and 4-9). In conclusion, it was possible to state that it is impossible to create a uniform, universal procedure to verify the boundaries of mesoregions that can be applied to different landscape zones. The selection of criteria depends on the features of the landscape structure dependent on morpho- and lithogeneesis.
