Differentiation of adenoviruses from reoviruses on the ground of their size, symmetry and shape is imposible. However, it is easy to perform this differentiation basing on the finding that uranyl acetate stains positively the cores of adenovirions containing DNA and does not stain those of reovirions which possess RNA.
