Studies on the recreation treated as a system were undertaken recently due to the more common acceptation of a general system theory and the methods of investigation attending. The paper presents the discussion on issue of the first degree of the system investigation on recreation examined by the Faculty of the Economic Geography at the Warsaw University. The investigation was theoretic-methodical and focused on defining the basic components of the system and its interactions. Inside relations and the input independent variable were analyzed. Partition of the system so called: territorial recreation system (TSR) into two groups was accepted as a basic one. Those groups are: internal connected with the recreation itself, here belong two subsystems: recreationists and structural form of the recreation and external group modyfying conditions influencing upon the recreation. External group includes following subsystems: resources of natural environment, historical-cultural resources, technical-economical resources, personnel of services and space-functional structure. Graphic model of the examined system presents fig. 1. Matrix of 10 thousand squares, each of them presents a place of potential relationship was constructed to define interaction among 100 components investigated within the mentioned subsystems. Three quality criteria were applied to estimate these interactions: reaction or no reaction, intensity of reaction (measured in 4-degree scope) and the results of reaction (positive or negative within the whole system). The basic matrix was constructed to present recreation as a whole, taking into concideration all forms of outdoor recreation. The analysis of matrix was presented from the viewpoint of importance of individual components of assemblage and interaction between reaction transmitted and received (relation donor-taker). As a result a total value of feadback per one hundred components, also an importance each of them acting as a donor or a taker was obtained. The research leeds to the following conclusions: a. The recreationists subsystem reacts the most intensively upon the structure examined in positive and negative sense as well. b. Each of the forms of recreation should be examined separately, because each of them peculiarly influence upon the other components of a structure. Global examination of all forms of outdoor recreation seems to be too generalized and can be used only when a spatial structure of TSR is examined. c. A subsystem of a natural environment is the strongest donor of positive influences also the strongest taker of negative ones. That is why interaction beetwen the conditions of natural environment and the other components of a structure should be carefully examined. d. Technical-economic resources is of a great importance as a condition of the recreation possibility. A role played by remaining subsystems of a structure is considerably smaller. The importance of the individual subsystems in the framework of a structure examined present the graphical models of interactions (fig. 13 and 14).
