Celem badania było przedstawienie pojęcia efektywności w aspekcie ekonomii skali, zaprezentowane na przykładzie banków komercyjnych. Pojęcia ekonomii i efektywności skali zostały zdefiniowane na podstawie teorii przedsiębiorstwa, jak również z wykorzystaniem metodycznych aspektów szacowania miar efektywności. Przedstawiono różnice w znaczeniu oraz niezgodności metodologiczne w zakresie zagadnień ekonomia skali oraz efektywność skali, zaznaczając, iż pojęcia te nie mogą być używane zamiennie. Zaprezentowano miarę efektywności skali na podstawie definicji efektywności według Farrella. Wyznaczony w ten sposób współczynnik z uwzględnieniem ekonomii oraz dysekonomii skali.

The aim of the elaboration was shown of comprehending the effectiveness at the aspect of economies of scale, presented on the example of commercial banks. Term of economics and effectiveness of the scale were defined on the theory of the enterprise, as well as based on methodological aspects of estimating measures of the effectiveness. In the elaboration differences in meaning and methodological disagreements were described in issues economies of scale and the effectiveness of the scale, emphasizing that these terms cannot be used interchangeably. In part of methodological studies were presented measure of the effectiveness of the scale based on the definition of the effectiveness according to Farrell. In this way set the rate which including effects of economics and diseconomies of scale.
