The article concerns the influence of selected features and factors of the natural environment on the location of the tourist accomodation base on the Black Sea coast of Western Caucasus (within the bounds of Russia). The influence of such factors as: landscape, coast, beach, as well as the length of the summer season, precipitation and insolation, which have been separated into types, was analized thoroughly. After the study one can come to the conclusion that the factors such as: subtropical landscape, the length of the summer holiday season (the longer, the bigger accomodation base), insolation (trhe more sun-hours, the bigger accomodation base) and the types of beach favour the formation of the tourist base in the seaside zone of Western Caucasus. The sandy and pebbly beaches are favourable to the development of the accomodation base in contradistinction to the stony beaches and the sea-coast lacking the beach. These two types likewise the abrasive coast were the factors stimulating the development of the tourist base. The precipitation, as it follows from the study, is not the factor which influence negatively the development of the accomodation base.
