The entomofauna of beetles in the Knyszyn Forest is better and better known, but much less so than in the nearby Białowieża Primeval Forest. The paper presents data on the occurrence of 16 rare species including 9 new to the Knyszyńska Forest: Aulonothroscus laticollis, Colydium filiforme, Corticeus fasciatus, Doydirhynchus austriacus, Glischrochilus grandis, Hypulus quercinus, Melandrya dubia, Mycetophagus ater, M. atomarius and Triphyllus bicolor. For some species: Colydium filiforme, Corticeus fasciatus, Hypulus quercinus, Ipidia binotata, Melandrya dubia, Platydema dejeanii and Triphyllus bicolor the Knyszyńska Forest and the Białowieża Primeval Forest are the only confirmed places of occurrence in north-eastern Poland. The results confirm the relatively high natural value of the Knyszyn Forest compared to other forest complexes and the fact that in some places the complex has retained the features of a natural forest. The research confirms the great importance of swamp forests and other forests excluded from use, in which rich resources of dead wood have been preserved for the preservation of the most valuable entomofauna.
