The paper presents the ways of the state's activity in the labour market and discusses the programmes and forms of active action/public policy in this area. The research concentrates on: intervention works, public works, professional training and retraining loans from the work fund etc. Empirical part of this study based on data from Jaslo administrative district leads to the conclusion that effectiveness of programs and their forms are highly diversified. It is the result of solutions adopted in the regulation sphere and the relation between labour supply and demand.
