Complex regulation of the matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) expression in the normal and epileptic hippocampus

MMP‑9 is involved in different aspects of the brain activity-driven physiology and pathology. It will be presented multifactorial and interweaved molecular mechanisms related to epigenetic regulators (like DNA methylation, DNA hydroxymethylation, histone modifications, miRNA), transcription factors and mRNA stabilizing proteins, which control MMP-9 expression in the normally as well as excessively acitved hippocampus.
