Anemone sylvestris L. is a rare and endangered species in the southern part of the Cracow Upland. According to the latest researches, it occurs there at 9 sites, including the newly discovered ones. The first records from the Ojców National Park came from the 19th century (Besser 1809; Berdau 1859a, b; Sapalski 1862). As a result of cessation of the traditional management, the original number of locations within ONP (8) decreased to 4 in the 1970s. The last location was found in the village of Młynnik in 2003. Since then the species has been assumed extinct in the ONP. In 2005 it was reintroduced at four sites. The new natural location was found on Skały Wdowie Mt in the northern part of the national park in a patch of the Corylus-Peucedanum cervaria community on a small rock shelter on the upper part of the massif. The population consists of 26 vegetative individuals, highly etiolated as a result of shading by a dense shrubland. The location is strongly endangered by secondary succession because management measures applied to calcareous grassland vegetation of Skały Wdowie Mt did not include the rock shelter with the studied population. In order to preserve the population, it is necessary to extend the existing protection measures
