The objective of the studies was to evaluate the residual effect of vermicompost and varying nitrogen doses (0, 45, 90, 135, 180 kg N/ha) on weed infestation of winter barley. Use of vermicompost in fore-forecrop significantly decreased (by 36%) dry matter of weeds in comparision with dry matter of weeds from plots without organic fertilization. Intensification of nitrogen fertilization generally reduced dry matter of weeds in winter barley. Use of vermicompost and intensification of nitrogen fertilization did not significantly affect the number of weeds in barley stand, determined at flowering stage asll as at harvest.
