Przedstawiono charakterystykę wybranych form turystyki miejskiej (handlowa, gastronomiczna, rozrywkowa kongresowa, kulturalna, sportowa) w przekroju międzynarodowym.

In contemporary cities, tourism and recreation are increasingly becoming the basic branches of the economy. As the significance of leisure in post-industrial societies increases, urban tourism is also acquiring new forms, other than in the post-industrial society. In contemporary agglomerations, such forms of tourism as participation in cultural and sports events, going out to restaurants and night clubs, taking part in conferences, fairs, exhibitions are becoming more and more popular. Furthermore, as the forms of leisure change, the behaviours of city dwellers are becoming more and more similar to those of tourists. As a result, we are witnessing a phenomenon which might be dubbed new urban tourism. For this reason, urban policies relating to tourism and leisure should not take into account only tourists as opposed to the city dwellers, but tourists and city dwellers together.
