Currently, the total area of minor crops in Poland does not exceed 0.5%. The reasons of increasing farmers’ interest in minor are: direct subsidies to these crops, demand for dietary and gluten-free products and the possibility of using minor crops as honey-yielding plants. A pure position not infested by weeds is needed in minor crop commodities. The current list of plant protection products is limited and insufficient, especially in case of the high value crops such as: mustard, buckwheat, phacelia and millet. In 2011 new regulations of the European Union on registration, authorization and trade of plant protection products come into force in three areas of cooperation, including minor crop protection. The aim of performed studies was to develop effective weed control methods in the following minor crops: mustard, buckwheat, phacelia and millet through a proper selection of herbicides or their mixtures, applied once or in the split dose system.
