Celem badań było przedstawienie klasyfikacji województw Polski ze względu na poziom rozwoju demograficznego na wsi oraz w miastach, w ujęciu dynamicznym. Wykorzystano, w tym celu taksonomiczny miernik rozwoju pozwalający opisać zjawisko złożone za pomocą jednej liczby, tzw. wartości zmiennej syntetycznej. W obrębie uporządkowanego zbioru obiektów wydzielono podzbiory obiektów podobnych w latach 2000, 2005, 2010, a także oceniono zgodność układów porządkowych wykorzystując współczynnik korelacji rang Spearmana. W ostatnich latach liczba ludności w Polsce ulegała nieznacznym wahaniom, przy jednoczesnym zróżnicowaniu terytorialnym wskaźników demograficznych.

Comparative analysis of places occupied by particular province considering a synthetic measure of demographic development allow us to say that exists high compatibility of obtained results in years for both the rural areas and the cities, and poor in comparison between rural areas and the cities. Indicates also varied in terms of the level of demographic development both in the rural areas and in the cities. In recent years the population has fluctuated slightly in Poland, while the territorial diversity of demographic indicators. The study shows the classification of the Polish provinces due to the level of development of the rural areas and the cities, in terms of the dynamic. There was used a taxonomic meter of development allowing to describe complex phenomenon with help of one number, so called value of synthetic variable. Within a structured set of objects, subsets of similar objects were selected in the years 2000, 2005, 2010, and also rated compliance of order systems using the Spearman correlation coefficient. Comparative analysis of places occupied by particular province considering a synthetic measure of demographic development allow us to say that exists high compatibility of obtained results in years for both the rural areas and the cities, and poor in comparison between rural areas and the cities.
