Проведено морфологические исследования 400 щитовидных желез крупного рогатого скота польской красной породы в области „Подгале” из местностей в которых выступает эпидемический зоб. Установлено, что средний вес щитовидной железы равнялся 19.25 гр. — 5.5 гр. на 100 кг живою веса и зависел от пола животного и его возраста. Анатомическим и гистологическим исследованием обнаружено в 15% исследованных желез патологические изменения. Авторы подозревают, что этот процент по всей вероятности выше, так как гистологические исследования были проведены не во всех случаях. Установлено, что чаще всего выступает „sfroma colloides” и „słroma cyclica”; „stroma parenchymatosa” и другие формы появляются значительно реже.

Invasigations were conducted of 400 thyroid glands of the Polish Red Cattle from the highlands Podhale areas affected with epidemic goiter of people. The authors found that the average weight of the thyroid glands is 19.25 g 5.5 g per 100 kg of body weight of the animals. The weights of the thyroid glands were dependend on the species age and sex of the animals, 15% of the examined thyroids showed histological lesions, whereby this number may be even higher, because not all the thyroid glands were histologically examined. The most often type of goiter is struma colloids, struma cystica and struma parenchymatous, other forms occur more rarely.
