Grzyby izolowano z gleby i roślin uprawnych w okresie wegetacyjnym z terenów południowej Polski. Łącznie przebadano 500 próbek. Oceniano zdolność izolatów do wykorzystywania różnych źródeł węgla, wzrost w różnych warunkach temperaturowych, ciśnieniu osmotycznym i odczynie pożywki.

The aim of study was to estimate the frequency of Aspergillus flavus occurrence on agricultural areas and to assess the biochemical characteristics of tested isolates. Fungi were isolated from soil and crops during the growing season on the southern Polish territories. In total 500 samples were examined. The ability of isolates to utilize different carbon sources, growth in different temperature conditions, osmotic pressure and pH of the medium were evaluated. A. flavus was found only in 11 samples of plants and 3 tested soils (respectively 4.4% and 1.2% of samples). All strains were characterized by good growth on media containing different carbon sources and a similar response to osmotic pressure, temperature and pH of culture medium. Optimum growth temperature was located between 20 and 35°C and pH at which the marked increase in biomass was maximum ranged within 5 to 8. When osmotic pressure in medium exceeded 30 000 hPa the growth of Aspergillus flavus was inhibited. Only one strain was significantly different in mycelial mass production, regardless of culture conditions.
