Field experiments were carried out in the years 1993-1995 on degraded chernozem soil. The aim of the study was to determine the response of two horse bean cultivars — Nadwiślański (traditional) and Tibo (self-determinate) to differentiated fertilization with nitrogen (0, 20, 40 kg per ha) partially before sowing, partially as foliar spray and with multicomponent microelement fertilizers (Agrosol-S, Insol-6, Mikrovit-1). The cultivars Nadwiślański with underterminated growth rhythm had higher yield as result of higher mass of 1000 seeds, number of pods per plant and number seeds per pod. Fertilization with nitrogen and with microelement fertilizers influenced profitable on the horse bean yielding only in the years with favorable rainfalls distribution.
