Fluoride contents of 23 commercial brands of black and green tea were determined using Potentiometrie method with ion selective electrode. To prepare tea infusions, a sample of tea (bag - 1,5-2,0 g) was extracted with 200 ml boiling water for 5 min. Fluoride contents ranged from 0,147 to 0,574 mg/cup of tea infusions (mean 0,373 mg). Moreover, fluoride level in 7 samples iced tea ready-to-drink beverages as well as in 11 samples instant tea concentrates were measured. The beverages were prepared from concentrate according to the recipe suggested by the producers on the labels - 4 teaspoon (20 g) in 200 ml water. Fluoride contents of ice tea beverages ranged from 0,016 to 0,242 mg/cup (mean 0,106) while beverages prepared from concentrate contained considerably lower fluoride amount ranging from 0,002 to 0,059 mg/cup (mean 0,011). In conclusion, black and green teas and ice tea ready-to-drink beverages, sold in market may constitute an important source of fluoride in diet.
