Economic conditions for crop protection in the north-eastern part of Poland, determined by the changes in Polish agriculture connected with transformation from central planning to free-market economy were investigated. Intensity of crop protection on the farms situated in various environmental conditions was determined. The studies were conducted on individual farms, of relatively large acreage using conventional (intensive) methods of production. The intensity of crop protection on examined farms, calculated according to selected measures, brought similar results. Calculated intensity indices proved that the most intensive crop protection was used on the farms having had the best environmental conditions for production and highest crop yields.
