The total magnesium concentration in plasma and erythrocytes was studied, in 25 children with glomerulonephritis without renal insufficiency. The erythrocyte concentration of total magnesium was significantly increased both at the onset and at the recovery pha se of the disease, whereas the plasma level of magnesium lied within normal limits. The influence of the immunological reaction on cell membrane permeability as a probable cause of the described changes is discussed.
