From the first record of the occurrence of the lake minnow, Eupallasella percnurus (Pallas), in Poland near Gdańsk (Benecke 1881) to the end of the twentieth century, this species has been reported to occur at 98 sites (approximate data). Among them, 51 were located in the current Lubelskie Voivodeship, 25 in the Pomorskie Voivodeship, and only 4 in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship. Just 14 sites have survived to date, and all of these were discovered in the 1990s. The vast majority of historical lake minnow sites were old peat excavations.
