The paper contains a discussion on the present state of staphylinid fauna (excluding Aleocharinae) of selected mountain ranges of the West Sudetes, mainly Karkonosze. Seventy four species were recorded, including the following new to w Sudetes: Philonthus concinnus (Grav.), Quedius maurus (Sahlb.), Gyrohypnus fracticornis (Müll.) and Stenus fulvicornis Steph. A chorological analysis of staphylinid associations of particular vegetation zones is presented, dominant species of those associations are listed and density changes depending on altitude are discussed.
