Main routes and enzymes involved in threonine metabolism in animal organism are shortly described. The content of threonine in various groups of feedstuffs is evaluated. Digestive processes in the small intestine of a pig are described to indicate the fate of threonine in the digestive tract. The influence of digestion and secretion on threonine requirement in pigs, and recent results of studies on threonine requirement by various groups of pigs are presented.
