Some previously undescribed pathological changes in the form of large oedemas situated on the abdominal part of the body were diagnosed in chinchillas. The animals did not show any general disturbances or abnormal indices during laboratory examinations. Histopathological studies revealed that the oedemas were due to blood wessel dilatations in the subcutaneous tissue. In addition, the presence of skin cysts was found as a result of innate skin growth disturbances.
