The article estimates whether in the period between 1990 and 1992 the potato production technologies applied in farms where the potato production is an important part of the total plant production were correct. The technology of production complexity index (Wkt) was calculated according to the formula: Wkt = Zw · 100 / Zp [%] where Zw is the number of activities conducted correctly and Zp is the amount of all estimated activities (27 indicators were taken into account in the investigation). It has been estimated that the technology of production complexity index is only 55,6% which proves that the farmers committed many technological mistakes. It has also been shown, that there exists a correlation between the technology of production complexity index (x) and the index of the production profitability (y). It is described by the line: y = - 13,5698 + 0,3050x This correlation indicates the need for extending counselling services as far as technology of agricultural production is concerned, as commonly encountered failure to meet the requirements of the technological regime substantially reduces the chance of farmers reaching high profits from agricultural production.
