Measurements of lead, cadmium, nickel, chromium, zinc, cobalt, manganese, copper, and iron concentrations by AAS, were carried out in the milk and some milk products. The following average metals' concentrations in the milk with 2% and 3.2% fat content, were found: Pb - 0.018 and 0.020 mg/kg; Cd - 0.002 mg/kg; Ni - 0.19 mg/kg; Cr - 0.024 mg/kg; Zn - 3.81 and 3.62 mg/kg; Co - 0.008 mg/kg; Mn - 0.08 and 0.09 mg/kg; Cu - 0.08 and 0.09 mg/kg; Fe - 0.79 and 0.68 mg/kg, respectively. Average metals' concentrations in the powdered milk as follows were found: Pb - 0.091 mg/kg; Cd - 0.011 mg/kg; Ni - 0.068 mg/kg; Cr - 0.034 mg/kg; Zn - 38.15 mg/kg; Co - 0.026 mg/kg; Mn - 0.67 mg/kg; Cu - 0.60 mg/kg; Fe - 5.88 mg/kg. Experimental data indicated that the tolerance of 0.1 mg Pb/kg and 0.01 mg Cd/kg (according to the home recommendations), was exceeded in some samples of powdered milk under test.
