Due to the growing interest in the intensification of beef cattle production and improvement of meat quality, it is necessary to use karyotype control in selection of animals. This paper discusses chromosomal aberrations in beef cattle. It is well known that in beef cattle in particular structural and numerical aberrations (Robertsonian translocations, trisomy of autosomal and sex chromosomes) and also leukocytic chimerism XY/XX have been found in great numbers. In general, these aberrations influence the lower fertility of aberration carries. In some countries where the system of karyotype control in improved, aberration carries are eliminated from breeding.
