The examinations were carried out in winter, spring and summer. In 95 per cent of faecal samples taken from 144 adult and young ponies, the parasites of Strongylus, Trichonema and Triodontophorus species were found. Statistical analysis revealed a significant influence of season on the number of parasitic eggs. More eggs were noticed in the samples taken from adult horses than in those of young animals. Ponies being raised on pasture and in stables of shallow litters had fewer eggs in their faeces. It was concluded that parasitological examinations ought to be performed in different seasons.
